What are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)?

The World Health Organisation states that there are 2.4 million fatalities every year from causes directly attributable to air pollution, with 1.5 million of these cases attributable to indoor air pollution. Some of the major pollutants include Volatile Organic Compaunds, which are released into the air during the process of painting. That’s why Nippon Paint is committed to developing paints with ultra low VOC.

Total VOC emitted during and after painting

Low VOC coating keep unpleasant chemicals found in conventional paints to a maximum so painting can be done in a comfortable and safe manner. And whatever your job requires, you’ll find that Nippon Green Choice Series offers you a comprehensive selection of paints and coatings for better coverage and effective results.

How does it affect me?

Studies have shown that prolonged exposure (especially among women, children, the elderly and those with weak resistance) to VOC can cause health issues such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches, nausea, skin allergies and respiratory problems. It may also affect the lungs, liver, kidneys and immune system.

Exposure to VOC is closely connected to indoor air quality because building materials like paint, wallpaper, furniture and carpets emit varied amounts of VOC. Considering that indoor air contributes to 57% of our daily air intake, it’s extremely crucial to reduce indoor VOC emissions.
